From the CEO's Desk
Constant innovation is the core of our business and today ebooks have taken on a whole new meaning and go way beyond anything traditional print can offer. The reading and learning experience an ebook provides is far superior to what print could have ever done. Technology now enables publishers to get in the minds of customers and provide them with superior quality offerings, which maximizes the value of their content. Ebooks of the future will include rich media, animation, collaboration, social networking, learning tools, and much more. The industry is abuzz with continuing innovation, with companies like Amazon, Google and Apple continuously striving to stay ahead. In the last month, the Kindle witnessed its highest ever sales, and this month we eagerly await the much rumored Apple tablet! This year, predictably will show wider and more mass adoption with more and more devices and applications set to hit the market. Consumption patterns are rapidly evolving, with consumers having a wide range of options to satisfy their varied reading needs. Rumors and debates over color readers, standardized formats, new entrants and so on will finally take shape in 2010. Countries the world over have announced their decision to take forward their ebook strategies, with large markets such as China and Taiwan leading the pack. 2010 will see a much more evolved publishing industry and publishers will need to keep abreast of these developments to stay in the game. As publishers continue their journey deeper into the electronic world, we look forward to forming strategic partnerships to provide them with more advanced solutions that not just take digital publishing one step ahead but also enable the publisher to touch lives, through the media rich, interactive and engaging digital medium. I hope you’ll find our newsletter enjoyable and educational.
