Hello and welcome to the second issue of Evolve. As the summer fades into memory and a new season approaches, book and media companies from every corner of the globe are gearing up for the annual Frankfurt Book Fair (Oct 14-18). Change is in the air and to quote the show organizers, “The challenge lies in conquering digital worlds, discovering foreign markets, and developing new business models.” iPublishCentral was developed specifically to address these very challenges.
In the year that has passed since the launch at Frankfurt Book Fair 2008, we’ve had the honor of helping publishers from all markets – Trade, STM, University Presses, Children’s, and more – put iPublishCentral technology to work and help their businesses thrive despite uncertain times.
Even in the midst of a major global economic downturn, the pace of change is unrelenting, excitement is in the air, and the opportunities for growth are very real. Case in point: while much attention has been paid to the recession, sales of wholesale trade ebooks grew a whopping 213 % over the last year. While traditional media remains an important component, mobile phones, e-readers, social networks and Web 2.0 are all now inspiring publishers to enter into new markets, build relationships with readers, and discover new revenue streams. Tools and technologies like iPublishCentral are making it happen.
Attendees of Frankfurt 2009 will get a first look at expanded iPublishCentral functionality and discover how Impelsys’ recent strategic partnerships and customer acquisitions are set to bring even greater opportunity to publishers in the year to come. We’ll be discussing our latest breakthroughs and insight at the Forum Innovation, sharing demonstrations at our booth (Hall 8; Stand L985), and celebrating iPublishCentral’s many successes with a party on Thursday, 15th October.
